    July 2007 BEC Column

Our presentation of “The Weimaraner Standard” during Nat’l week in Mars, PA was anything but predictable! An audience of about 40 members graciously waited while our Audio/Visual guy, Michael Anderson and many others worked franticly to get our equipment working so the Power Point program could begin. After about 30 minutes and many @*&!!! , the projector was deemed inoperable . The hotel was not able to provide other equipment, so we were left to our own devices.

Michael came to the rescue by suggesting we brake into small focus groups and use several of the laptops our members had at the seminar. The seating was rearranged into circles of about 5; the laptops were synchronized to begin the programs; the audio was run on just one laptop, and the result was a resounding success!!!

Our breeder panel of Judy Colan, Chris Grisell and Rosemary Shoreman fielded several questions at the conclusion of the program, and gave the audience good and varied advice to consider. We would once again like to offer our sincere appreciation to these breeders for their time and expertise.

The BEC would like to thank the WFF for stepping forward and supplying our committee with a brand new projector of our very own for future presentations. However, the focus groups were such fun, we plan to present other program material in that format.

Our presentation will again be offered at the Regional Specialty weekend in Greenville, SC. For those of you on the West Coast, plans are in the works to present the program at the Western Regional as well. For anyone unable to attend these seminars, the program is available for purchase by mail.

We are currently in the process of retaining the “Breeder Panels” for future presentations.

Many of you know Mary Ann Hall of Charleston, South Carolina who breeds under the ”Hallmar” prefix.

Mary Ann has joined our ranks and is the newest member of the BEC.

Included in this issue of The Weimaraner Magazine is a piece written by Mary Ann and Linda Garrett on the subject of Puppy Contracts. Mary Ann and Linda are practicing attorneys in the South Carolina area.
